Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Another shooting incident has triggered fresh alarm in Kasba after an 18-year-old man was injured during a late-night altercation. Police said Abhijit Naiya was shot in the Prantik Palli area around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The bullet struck his left palm, and he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The incident has once again raised questions about the security situation in the locality.
According to the initial investigation, a fight broke out between two friends shortly before the shooting. Police suspect that a young man accompanying Abhijit fired the shot during the argument. Locals reported hearing a heated exchange between the two moments before the gun went off. Officers recovered food packets and a liquor bottle from the spot.
As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been made, and the exact motive remains unclear. Police continue to question witnesses and examine forensic evidence to determine how the situation escalated to gunfire.
The fresh incident has stirred concern because Kasba witnessed another shooting on November 15, 2024, when Ward No. 108 councillor Sushant Ghosh was targeted. That attack involved suspects linked to Bihar. The latest shooting, occurring just a few hundred metres from the earlier spot before its first anniversary, has intensified scrutiny of local security arrangements.
